A Message from the WMCA Board of Directors
In 2009 Wisconsin Medical Credit Association was faced with challenges much like many of the providers and businesses we work for. The economic downturn we all experienced in one way or another was experienced by WMCA. As a result of higher costs to produce a workshop and lower attendance rates, we were forced to look hard at how we managed the Association. Our goal has always been, and continues to be to offer value to our members through quality educational opportunities at a manageable cost. With the overarching goal of offering valuable, quality programs in the most economical manner possible, the board embarked on a strategic planning process. The board began reviewing workshop schedules, membership fee structure, board expenses, and WMCA By-Laws. As we started to address some changes, we were faced with yet another challenge; the WMCA President and Vice President had to resign their positions due to job changes. With that, we were left with some board vacancies, which set our strategic planning back a bit. The new-year is well underway, a new board is in place, and the WMCA strategic planning continues. A few significant changes include a revision of the by-laws, moving toward creating more volunteer opportunities for all of our provider and associate members, and offering ways to continue to involve retirees from the industry who may have interest in supporting the organization. You will see more on each of these topics in the months ahead, as well as on the strategic changes to the organization. The WMCA board wants to be responsive to your interests and with that, we welcome your feedback and suggestions.
